Description

Worship and Liturgy in Context shows how Christian worship in its many and changing forms interacts in significant and interesting ways with its varying contexts - cultural, social, political, economic. Worship, even in a secular age, shapes ethics and behaviour, and often challenges received wisdom and commonly accepted theologies. It gives special attention to Scotland, but it is challengingly relevant in other contexts today. It makes a distinctive and important contribution to the lively debate about the relation of worship, theology and ethics. It also challenges the Churches and believers to renewal of the worship of God in spirit and in truth. It is suitable for use on liturgy and worship courses, courses on church history, cultural history, practical and pastoral theology.

Reviews
In helping to create a sense of common ownership of history, the book gives a strong foundation for future co-operation. PUBLISHING NEWS, November 2004 "The essays are scholarly and at the same time readable and accessible. (...) Peter Lake gives a masterly account of the significance of Richard Hooker. Gerald Noel examines ARCIC and other aspects of ecumenical developments in recent decades. Those who wish to deepen their awareness of the development of Anglicanism in the context of Western Christendom, particularly in relation to Roman Catholic Church, willl gain much from this book." Gordon Geddes, THE READER, winter 2004. "This book is worth much study and prayer. It should find a placed on the shelves of all those caught up in the history of Anglicanism." Peter Atkins, Auckland, New Zealand, Reviews in Religion and Theology, Vol 11 issue 4, September 2004.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
