About the Author
Linda Rabben is an anthropologist, human rights advocate and independent consultant to non-governmental organisations. She has written for many publications, including the Nation and Cultural Survival and is founder of a human rights NGO helping survivors of human rights abuses in Brazil and the United States. She has a PhD in Anthropology and Latin American Studies from Cornell University and has done field research on Brazilian culture and society and represented Amnesty International as Brazil group coordinator.
