Description

First thing I'm a need you to do is keep my secret. Can't let nobody know I'm here and I mean nobody. In her illegal boarding house in Butetown, Cardiff, Gwyneth Mbanefo toils tirelessly to keep afloat. It's a port town during the war; home to souls from every corner of the globe. When Nate, an African American GI, escapes his barracks and discovers this new world without segregation, can he find safe harbour? And with danger on every corner, who can he trust? Trouble in Butetown is a pressing new play from the George Devine award-winning playwright, Diana Nneka Atuona. This edition was published to coincide with the world premiere at Donmar Warehouse in London, in February 2023.

A pressing new play about racial discrimination amongst US Army officers within a non-segregated Welsh town during the Second World War, from award-winning playwright Diana Nneka Atuona.

About the Author
Diana Nneka Atuona is a British-Nigerian writer from Peckham, South London. After graduating with a degree in International Politics from South Bank University, Diana was awarded a scholarship from Gray's Inn to study a diploma in Law. Her first passion has always been to write for TV, stage, film and music though. In September 2011, she joined the Royal Court as their Theatre Local Officer, taking plays by writers like Debbie Tucker Green, Rachel De-Lahay and Bola Agbaje to spaces around London. In 2012, she joined the Royal Court's Invitation writing group and the resulting full-length play, Liberian Girl, was placed in the top 25 plays for the Verity Bargate Award and was longlisted for the 2013 Bruntwood Prize. It also won her the Alfred Fagon Award for playwriting. In 2019, her play Trouble in Butetown (original title: The Boy from Tiger Bay) won the George Devine award and was programmed at Donmar Warehouse in February 2023.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
