Transactional vs. Transformational Coaching:
The transactional method is the most commonly practiced approach to coaching. Transactional coaching works to help identify new actions that will produce the desired objectives. Although this approach can be helpful, it does not support people deeply enough. Transformational coaching is an approach that helps people become skillful in the art of self-reflection, to question and examine their foundational perspectives, values, and beliefs that influence their actions or habits.
Transformational Coaching for Early Childhood Educators can be used by supervisors working with staff or peer-to-peer, but is recommended to be used with another person to get the full benefit of the transformational coaching.
