Description

Rustling under a leafy tree, A greedy shrew could hardly see... Shrew has spent his entire life using only one sense to hunt - his sense of smell. Until a horrible case of the flu forces him to make use of the rest of his senses. Once he hones the art of hunting - using more than just his nose - he can't help but gobble up every snack in sight. The question is, can Shrew restore the forest he so dearly loves? 'The Shrew with The Flu' is a wonderfully warm and endearing story by budding author Will Hamilton-Davies, created in partnership with illustrator Jennifer Davison. The combination of rhyming verse and rich, vibrant illustrations, makes this environmentally themed story the perfect read-aloud for every family. While on the surface 'The Shrew with The Flu' is an endearing story about a shrew's quest for food, it also holds a powerful message about greed and empathy, a message that fosters love and respect for our natural world.

About the Author
As one of six, Will Hamilton-Davies spent most of his young adult life entertaining three much younger siblings - much of which involved reading stories. Though his ability as a writer was solidified some years before - while pursuing English at secondary school and Journalism at Newcastle University - it wasn't until his graduation year that Will discovered a relentless passion for rhyming picture books; in fact, it was around this time that retired primary school teacher, Sheila Supple, was the first to advise Will to pursue authorship, as his writing was "crying out for illustration". Will's stories are instilled with themes of morality and kindness, and he likes nothing more than to sit with a group of avid listeners and bring these wonderful worlds to life. See more on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter: @willhdofficial Jennifer Davison is a freelance illustrator. She lives in Northern Ireland and works in her little studio, surrounded by children's books, toys and numerous hot cups of tea. Jennifer began her career as a digital artist in an animation studio in Belfast, where she worked on a variety of projects for children's TV, before her passion for illustration led her to pursue a career as a children's book illustrator. She has now worked on a number of picture books for publishers all across the globe, striving to create artwork with warmth, life and colour. Above all, she hopes in some way to add happiness and value through her artwork. If you'd like to say hello, you can find Jennifer on Instagram at @jen_sketch.

Reviews
'The Shrew with the Flu' carries the timely message about caring for our environment and how little acts of kindness and consideration can make a huge difference. A lovely story to read and look at for kids of all ages." - Amanda Prowse; "A story of respecting nature and appreciating our surroundings, told confidently by an exciting and up-and-coming author." - David Litchfield; "Knowing how hard it is to communicate the effects of the climate crisis to young kids without making them fearful of the world they live in, makes this book a great entry point for some of the messages we need to get across to the next generation. A beautifully depicted story to show that what we take from nature, we must always try to give back." - Tolmeia Gregory; "The kids loved reading 'The Shrew with the Flu', it carries the timely message about caring for the environment and how little acts of kindness and consideration can make a huge difference, and I love that a young aspiring entrepreneur is following his dream in having the book published! I highly recommend it as a lovely read with the kids..." - Sara Davies MBE

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
