Description

The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon is a contemporary South Asian drama of love, loss and trauma that transports you from the urban elites of Pakistan to the mountains of Peru and the hustle and bustle of London. Innocence, friendship, and destiny converge in a tale that spans a lifetime. Zohaib, Misha, and Nadia were once inseparable, their childhood marked by fun and laughter. Yet the harmony shattered one fateful Karachi afternoon, laying bare divides they never saw coming. Years pass, but scars remain. Zohaib seeks solace in London, haunted by memories that refuse to fade. Meanwhile, Nadia has escaped the household where she first met Misha and Zohaib, but fate delivers her back to their door. As their paths collide, Nadia and Zohaib grapple with fragments of a past they're still piecing together. The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon masterfully weaves a tapestry of emotions that spans continents and generations in a story of love that endures the ravages of time, healing that finds its way through the cracks, and pain that must be confronted to pave the way for a better tomorrow. With exquisite prose and vivid storytelling, Safinah Danish Elahi explores intricate layers of trauma, class division, and the remarkable resilience of the human spirit. Perfect for fans of Kamila Shamsie and Mohsin Hamid.

A story of childhood trauma and the mystery of what caused it in the lives of Misha, Zohaib and Nadia.

Reviews
Elahi's writing is lucid and heartfelt as she weaves together a compelling narrative of friendship, memory and identity."-Daisy Rockwell, Translator of Tomb of Sand and Man Booker International Prize winner 2022; "The Idle Stance of a Tipper Pigeon is the work of an innate storyteller, a riveting and moving tale."-Muneeza Shamsie, writer, critic, literary journalist, and author of Hybrid Tapestries: The Development of Pakistani Literature in English; "The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon is the gently wrought story of a Pakistani family struggling through the aftermath of an unimaginable tragedy. It addresses themes of loss, family, womanhood and friendship with sensitivity, grace and an enduring love for Pakistan."-Cherie Jones, author of How the One-Armed Sister Sweeps Her House; "The Idle Stance of the Tippler Pigeon holds a mirror to the times we live in, telling a story steeped in-and embracing- the chaos, ambiguity and messiness of the human condition...most poignantly, whilst this carefully crafted world complicates conversations around womanhood and privilege, it isn't bereft of light and redemption." -Saba Karim Khan, Author, Skyfall; "Safinah Danish Elahi's energetic and graceful weaving together of the lives, loves, joys and sorrows of the multiple characters this novel embraces, is as playful at times, as it is moving. By the novel's conclusion, I felt as if I had been on a deeply satisfying journey."-Briar Grace Smith, Script writer and Director of the movie, Cousins and Member of the Academy of Oscars; "The writing is really beautiful and speaks to class issues."-Reader Review

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
