One of the largest and perhaps the most well-known battle of the American Civil War occurred in July of 1863 in the modest town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The location and beauty of the many monuments and memorials on the battlefield today, preserve the memory of the soldiers who fought and died on these hallowed grounds. Horses are unique because they are flight animals; Equines are prey not predator. Yet, from the earliest recorded histories we see these animals used as implements of war.
