The harpsichord was the standard keyboard instrument for three centuries before the invention of the piano. About the Author
Thomas Donahue is a dentist by training and a keyboard musician by avocation. He has built several pipe organs, clavichords, and harpsichords. He has authored many journal articles and three books and has edited four books, all on various musicological subjects.
