Description

A colourful and insightful introduction to the lives of the world's most renowned and inspirational artists. This informative book invites young readers to discover the creative practices of female artists who, over their careers, broke boundaries and exceeded expectations. Each page reveals their struggles and successes, demystifying the art world, building confidence and inspiring a new generation. With foreword by Tate's first female director, Maria Balshaw, and biographical entries on over thirty artists, this book contains unique interviews with living artists including Rachel Whiteread, Yayoi Kusama and Paula Rego.

About the Author
Award winning author Sophia Bennett writes YA fiction about girls discovering their inner power. She is inspired by creativity, courage and kindness and explores the worlds of artists, musicians and adventurers who change the world. Manjit Thapp is an illustrator whose work combines digital and traditional media. She uses layered textures and patterns to create her illustrations and is interested in exploring female characters.

Reviews
'The Bigger Picture' is a beautifully illustrated tome paying tribute to women in contemporary art. -- Frances Hedges
The book shapes a holistic understanding of the art world and how it functions ... Another lovely aspect of this book is the original interviews with sixteen of the thirty artists, among them Lorna Simpson, Lubaina Himid and Cindy Sherman-which I imagine will pique a young imagination. * Elephant Magazine *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
