Description

Bill Hayes pays eloquent tribute to two masterpieces: the human body and the book detailing it. With passion and wit, Hayes explores the significance of 'Gray's Anatomy' and explains why it came to symbolize a turning point in medical history. As a master of narrative nonfiction Hayes weaves his moving personal story and anatomical experiences throughout.

This is a paperback reprint of the hardcover original published by Ballantine books in 2008. It sold 9,176 copies. 2008 marked the 150th anniversary of Gray's Anatomy, a classic that has never gone out of print. One of the most famous books in the English language (not to mention, the inspiration for the name of the TV show "Grey's Anatomy"), Gray's Anatomy is certainly the only medical textbook that people all around the world know by name. Gray's Anatomy has been translated into over a dozen languages. Millions of copies have been sold worldwide--to med students and artists alike. The Anatomist will appeal to: Fans of narrative nonfiction (e.g., Mark Karlinsky's books). Readers of popular science (e.g., the books of Oliver Sacks, Natalie Angier, Sherwin Nuland). Physicians, medical students, and anatomists, as well as artists and anglophiles. When released in hardcover in 2007, the book was reviewed widely including in the New Yorker, New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and the Washington Post. Hayes was also interviewed on "Forum"(KQED) and the "Leonard Lopate Show."

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
