About the Author
Amir Tag Elsir is a Sudanese writer and doctor. He studied medicine in Egypt and at the British Royal College of Medicine. He has published a number of novels, biographies and volumes of poetry. His novel The Grub Hunter (2010) was shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2011. He lives in Doha, Qatar. William Maynard Hutchins has translated more than a dozen Arabic novels by prominent authors including Naguib Mahfouz, Fadhil al-Azzawi and Mahmoud Saeed. He was awarded two National Endowment for the Arts grants for literary translation in 2006 and 2012 for his translations of The Seven Veils of Seth and New Waw by Ibrahim al-Koni. He was the co-winner of the 2013 Saif Ghobash/Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation for A Land Without Jasmine by Wajdi al-Ahdal. In addition to Telepathy, Hutchins has translated Amir Tag Elsir's novels French Perfume and The Grub Hunter.
