About the Author
Yusuke Yonezu was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he still lives with his wife and children. As a child he loved to draw and make toys out of paper and boxes. He went on to study design and became the creator of many board books, puzzles, and toys beloved by children and their caregivers around the world.
Yonezu's board books are full of bold colors and help young readers master basic concepts, including counting skills, animals, foods, shapes, and more. The designs help readers of all ages see the world in a new way and discover new surprises with each turn of the page.
Reviews
"An exercise in strongly colored simplicity. Thick pages with cut-outs invite babies and toddlers to feel the shape of squares and rectangles as well as to notice how the same shapes can represent different things. 'Two rectangles can become ... two candles or two pencils.' 'This small square could be ... an ice cube or a piece of chocolate.'" -- Megan Cox Gurdon, Wall Street Journal
"An engaging, visually appealing introduction to basic shapes, developmentally appropriate for infants and toddlers." -- Kirkus Reviews
"These impeccably designed concept books are deceptively simple and pack lots of opportunity for an engaging reading experience ... The bright primary and secondary colors against white backgrounds are just right for toddlers." -- slj.com
