Description

This book provides insights into how new ventures in emerging economies and developing countries generate social innovation. It showcases new forms of business and how they are different from traditional business models. With increasing drive for innovation in emerging markets and lack of knowledge of how these markets work, this book enriches existing literature by looking at how such businesses in developing economies break new ground in a daunting, resource constrained environment. The book examines successful individual entrepreneurs, social relationships, product innovation, processes, systems and markets through cases. It navigates across key theoretical elements including individual initiative-taking, agency, and opportunity contexts.

This book will be a useful reference to understanding the dynamics of new ventures in emerging markets and how they fuel social innovation and sustainable development.

Reviews

"Social innovation has become a popular concept for those trying to improve the world. This book offers a better understanding of the role of social innovation in new ventures in the context of emerging economies and developing countries. How is social innovation defined? Why is it considered useful and how does it relate to sustainability and entrepreneurship? How is contemporary social innovation being fostered? How to trigger new and lasting solutions to the most troubling social problems of our time? These are some of the questions that this powerful and relevant book tries to highlight and bring to the discussion generating value for the whole society."- Joao J. Ferreira, Associate Professor, University of Beira Interior, Portugal

"There is a great need for improved knowledge on social Innovation in different geographical and socio-economic settings. This book provides valuable insights into the dynamics of social inclusion and sustainability in emerging economies and developing countries."- Malin Lindberg, Full Professor, Lulea University of Technology, Sweden

"Social innovation has begun to be a very important topic in our era as a global society, more significant when it comes to impacts in the Americas and South Asia, where sustainable development is so important. This book offers a different perspective, presents through its various chapters, how social innovation is creating value in society and becomes a key driver of business success."- Consuelo Garcia-De-la-Torre, EGADE Tec de Monterrey

"It is a very much needed book in the academic world, since it offers new insights into the processes of social innovation in various emerging economy contexts. It is a great read for scholars at different stages of their career path: for PhD students beginning their work in the area of social innovation but also for more advanced scholars looking for novel theoretical perspectives. A definite must read and must study for every scholar from developed countries. The book itself, with the focus on emerging economies context and interest in informal activities, is thereby part of minority and is very inclusive, thereby showing how many novel research opportunities there are in this field."- Marzena Starnawska, PhD, Program Chair for EURAM SIG Entrepreneurship, Assistant Professor Faculty of Management University of Warsaw

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
