Description
The rosary is one of the ancient devotions of Christianity, its recurring rythms providing a means of meditating the central mysteries of life of Christ. This book illustrates sacred mysteries of the Rosary as well as prayers of the Rosary. It also contains a selection of 16th century prayers, and a section on the art of manuscript illumination.
About the Author
This compilation of traditional Catholic prayers and images is the result of a project begun by two sixth form pupils at Stonyhurst College in 2005. Working with the College's historic manuscripts and libraries, they produced a Rosary on Power Point. From that original idea, this book has evolved. It has been edited and produced through St Omers Press, the Stonyhurst College imprint. At the time of publishing, Edward Thomson is reading Classics at St Andrews University. Charles Graffius is working with the Jesuits in India before going on to read Theology at Heythrop College, University of London. At the request of the compilers of this book, 25% of the profits will be donated to the work of the Xavier Volunteer Programme in India. XVP is a Jesuit organisation which runs voluntary placements for lay people in Africa, South America, Europe, Britain and India. This book will benefit their work at Mundgod in Maharashtra, helping to alleviate the conditions in which child labourers work and live and providing them with a basic education.
