Description

Social movements and armed insurrections were exceptionally widespread in 20th century Latin America, and continue to be important to this day. Few countries avoided the wave of political upheavals and social instability, as well as the government's repressive answer to them. And over the last decade, there has been a great increase in the amount of work being written on various movements or groups. Fernando Calderon cuts through the mountains of material to deliver students a clear, straightforward overview of Latin American revolutions and social movements during the modern period. Bolstered by primary sources and a well-edited companion website, Revolutions and Social Movements in Modern Latin America gives students both a solid background in some of the most dynamic incidents in Latin American history and a range of sources to show them what it was like for people living through these conflicts. The book includes coverage of: the Shining Path the Cuban Revolution Campesinos and agrarian struggles in Bolivia the rise of dictatorships in Haiti and the Dominican Republic the Cold War in Mexico the Allende years in Chile and many more! Following a broadly chronological course, Revolutions and Social Movements in Modern Latin America will be indispensable to anyone teaching or studying revolutions in modern Latin America.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
