Yn dilyn llwyddiant Chwedl Branwen, mae'r awdur/arlunydd Aidan Saunders yn ol gyda chyfrol newydd sy'n ailddychmygu stori o gainc gyntaf y Mabinogi, stori Pwyll a Rhiannon. Mae'r chwedlau hyn yn rhan bwysig o'n traddodiad Celtaidd, ac maent wedi cael eu hadrodd a'u hailadrodd ar hyd y canrifoedd. Gobeithio y bydd y llyfr yma'n llwyddo i gyflwyno mytholeg y Mabinogi i genhedlaeth newydd o ddarllenwyr ifanc. Credaf fod yr awdur wedi dewis a dethol yn ddoeth pa ddarnau i'w cynnwys a pha rai i'w hepgor wrth greu fersiwn cyfoes o hen stori. Gyda'i siap hirsgwar cul anarferol, a'r gwaith print trawiadol, dyma gyfrol sy'n mynnu eich sylw wrth i chi fynd heibio'r silff lyfrau. Rydym yn dueddol o anghofio am gyfrolau'n cynnwys lluniau erbyn i ni gyrraedd y grwp oedran 7+ ac felly rwy'n falch iawn o weld llyfr sy'n clodfori gwaith celf, gan ddangos bod llyfrau stori-a-llun yn addas i blant hyn yn ogystal a phlant iau. Mi fyddwch yn cael eich swyno gan waith print lino'r awdur, sy'n edrych fel tapestri hardd canoloesol, gyda phob math o gyfeiriadau cynnil at fywyd Celtaidd hynafol. Ceir yma stori am Pwyll Pendefig Dyfed, tywysog sy'n cael ei ddewis gan Rhiannon i fod yn wr iddi. Does dim ond un broblem fach, mae hi i fod i briodi rhywun arall! Tybed fydd 'na ddiweddglo hapus i'r stori hon? Annhebyg! Dyma'r Mabinogi, wedi'r cyfan. Yma, fe gewch stori lawn antur, serch, brad, trais a thipyn o ddewiniaeth ar ben hynny! Un o fanteision y llyfr yw'r ffaith ei fod yn cynnwys geiriau Cymraeg Mererid Hopwood gyferbyn a'r geiriau Saesneg, sy'n golygu fod apel y llyfr yn cyrraedd cynulleidfa ehangach. Ac nid cyfieithiadau gair am air o'i gilydd mo'r fersiynau; mae'r ddau destun yn sefyll yn annibynnol, yn ddarnau telynegol, hyfryd i'w darllen ar wahan. O gysidro natur ddwyieithog Cymru gyfoes, byddwn yn hoffi gweld mwy o lyfrau dwyieithog fel hyn ar gael.
