Los metodos experimentales se utilizan para investigar la psicologia social, psicologia del desarrollo, las diferencias individuales y muchos otros temas (como la psicologia del medio ambiente) que no fueron considerados en la vision de la psicologia hace 80 anos. El uso de los metodos experimentales se ha ampliado para incluir mas temas en el campo. Escribir un libro de texto destinado a este tema se ha convertido en un reto cada vez mayor. El libro consta de dos partes principales. Los cinco primeros capitulos constituyen la primera parte, Fundamentos de la investigacion, y aborda algunos conceptos metodologicos basicos que los estudiantes necesitan. En estos capitulos se describen algunos aspectos generales de la ciencia y la construccion de teorias; las caracteristicas de (y las diferencias entre) observacional, correlacional y los metodos experimentales (con un enfasis en las ultimas), las cuestiones eticas en la investigacion y como leer y escribir reportes de investigacion. En los 10 capitulos restantes, que conforman la segunda parte, Principios y practicas de investigacion, se profundiza en el esqueleto de la primera parte ilustrando temas metodologicos en el contexto de los pro- blemas reales de investigacion. Los capitulos presentan temas metodologicos en el contexto de la investigacion actual. Esta organizacion refleja la creencia de que la mejor manera de proporcionar a los estudiantes una comprension de la metodologia es encajarlo en el marco de los problemas reales que se dan en la realizacion de la investigacion. La metodologia no existe en un vacio, sino que esta ideada para resolver problemas concretos de investigacion.

About the Author
Barry H. Kantowitz is Professor Emeritus of Psychology, Professor Emeritus of Industrial and Operational Engineering, and former Director of the Transportation Research Institute at the University of Michigan. Prior to that, he was Chief Scientist of the Human Factors Transportation Center of the Battelle Memorial Institute in Seattle. He received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Wisconsin in 1969. He has written and edited more than two dozen books. His research on human attention, mental workload, reaction time, human-machine interaction, and transportation human factors has been supported by the Office of Education, the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, NHTSA, and FHWA. David G. Elmes is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Washington and Lee University, where he taught for forty years. He earned his B.A. with high honors from the University of Virginia and completed the M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in psychology there. Dr. Elmes was an adjunct professor at Hampden-Sydney College, a research associate for a year in the Human Performance Center of the University of Michigan, and a Visiting Fellow of University College at the University of Oxford. At Washington and Lee, he co-directed the Cognitive Science Program and chaired the Department of Psychology for ten years. Professor Elmes edited READINGS IN EXPERIMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY and DIRECTORY OF RESEARCH IN PSYCHOLOGY AT PRIMARILY UNDERGRADUATE INSTITUTIONS, and is coauthor of RESEARCH METHODS IN PSYCHOLOGY (Cengage, 2012, with B. H. Kantowitz and H. L. Roediger III).

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.

Found a hard to get book…
