Description

In Post-Queer Politics, Ruffolo looks at the work of Foucault, Butler, Bakhtin, Deleuze, Guattari and others in his creative refocus on the queer/heteronormative dyad that has largely consumed queer studies and contemporary politics. He offers a radical and intersectional new way of thinking about class, race, sex, gender, sexuality and ability that extends beyond queer studies to be truly transdisciplinary in its focus and political implications. It will appeal to readers across a range of subjects, including gender and sexuality studies, philosophy, cultural studies, political science, and education.

About the Author
David Ruffolo lectures at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, University of Toronto, Canada

Reviews
'Post-Queer Politics explores the cutting edge of queer, where queer thought and politics veer away from questions of identity, recognition or representation toward new kinds of becomings. Post-queer becomings touch upon and run through all sorts of economic, social and political relations, global flows of sex and labour, and forms of democracy that bring unexpected couplings and new queer productions. An exciting new vision of the promise of queer!' Elizabeth Grosz, Rutgers University, USA 'Post-Queer Politics injects new life into the field of theory by thinking some of today's most impossible concepts in a vibrant and intellectually incisive manner. Ruffolo's understanding of the political creates an innovative and spirited way beyond all the negative senses of mourning, nostalgia and retrieval. This is an important contribution to political and cultural theory and should be read by anyone working in queer theory, or by anyone who has consigned queer theory to a now defunct era of identity politics.' Claire Colebrook, Penn State University, USA 'The sheer density of referencing and discussion of primary sources...make Post Queer Politics a valuable resource for students interested in social justice and contemporary philosophy.' M/C Reviews 'Some Deleuzian approaches, and particularly David Ruffolo's, disrupt the centrality of subjectivity to offer a critical refinement towards queer philosophical abstractions that might have a more universal use - the aim is for a purity that is applicable in all contexts, and by anyone.' Year's Work in Critical and Cultural Theory 'Another strength of Post-Queer Politics is the sheer variety of material it addresses... In attempting to think through not only queer theory but also school, work, and global economies, Post-Queer Politics is an ambitious project of re-theorization, which makes for engaging reading... Post-Queer Politics is certainly thought-provoking...' Hypatia

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
