Reviews
'Kim's photographs struck me as a celebration of ... one of the more eclectic aspects of Ireland's great wealth: the diversity of its people and the range of their backgrounds and contributions ... What strikes me above all in this exhibition [is the] empathy evident in Kim Haughton's work.' -President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins 'Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and Kim Haughton's project Portrait of a Century is genius in both its simplicity and impact.' -Gemma Tipton, The Irish Times 'The images have obviously been arranged with carful attention to how they fit together visually, and the design is complementary to this aim ... Haughton's project is a unique attempt to summarise a century of Irish life through [some] of the people who have lived it.' -Darren Campion, Irish Arts Review
Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best, and Kim Haughton's project Portrait of a Century is genius in both its simplicity and impact. -- Gemma Tipton * The Irish Times *
'Portrait of a Century' has been described as a time capsule, and Haughton's images capture the changing contours and contexts of modern Ireland. These reminders of face, place and identity are an unusual way to revisit the visions and values of the 1916 Proclamation, and to reflect on what it means to be Irish at the end of the first century of this nation state. -- Stephanie McBride * Irish Arts Review *
