Reviews
"This book has a lot of potential, but it falls a little short of what I think it could be. For example, 1) the tables would be more organized if they used horizontal lines as well as vertical lines to separate the topics/information. As the tables currently stand, they appear disjointed and are not easily read or deciphered; 2) I recommend utilizing color in the diagrams and figures to help direct the eye toward important statements; 3) The restriction versus mixed versus malabsorptive distinction should be updated. This is a more outdated term, especially as we also see nutritional deficiencies in sleeve gastrectomies; 4) Bullet points should be utilized for the end-of-chapter recommendations; and 5) A succinct table on micronutrients/vitamins for each surgery would be helpful for easy reference. Overall, the resources and references are up to date and do a good job of providing an overview of nutritional needs pre- and post-bariatric surgery." -- (c) Doody's Review Service, 2021, Erin Catherine Worden, MD, reviewer, expert opinion
