About the Author
Matthew Vale has been writing books on classic British motorcycles and cars since 2004. Now retired from his work as a Chartered IT Professional specialising in computer security, he is devoting his free time to classic car and bike restoration, writing classic motoring books and articles, and spending time with his wife and family. In the past he has run such diverse classic cars including a Triumph Spitfire Mark III, MGB, Triumph Stag, and a Lotus Elite, as well as restoring and riding classic bikes including the Triumph Bonneville, Norton Commando and BSA Lightning. With a lifelong fascination for glass-fibre-bodied cars (stemming from early holiday jobs at various glass-fibre factories, and ownership of many rusty cars) he is currently carrying out a nut and bolt (and glass fibre) restoration of two Lotus Elan Plus 2s.
Reviews
It's well written and easy to dive into, while the photography is very good. Auto Express --- this is an honest book that covers every model in a lot more detail than you will find anywhere else. Octane (UK) --- the book deserves a place on any Lotus enthusiasts book shelf ... I recommend it. Historic Lotus Register. --- This is a throughly researched book and a detailed examination of the Europa. It's certainly a useful reference for those wanting to learn more about this significant model. - Absolute Lotus. --- This is a wonderfully exhaustive book on the development and life of Lotus' first mid-engined sports car, to the extent that, if you want to know when the number of cylinder head washers were changed from ten to eight, and then to nine, this will tell you. Colourfully illustrated throughout and with extensive buying, owning and running advice bolstered by real world input from owners, it's a definitive work by an enthusiast who knows his stuff and loves his subject. Cool front cover, too. - Classic Car Weekly. --- Provides everything for Lotus fans and, in particular, for those of the model Europe. - autobuch.guru. The author's enthusiasm for the subject matter can't be faulted. - Classic & Sports Car. This book well presents the Europa's importance to Lotus and its special attributes which make it appealing. - Victory Lane. As the only book dedicated purely to the Europa, this one fills a gap nicely. - SpeedReaders.
