Description

Framed by an overview of theories that guide student affairs practice, the cases in this book present a challenging array of problems that student affairs and higher education personnel face on campus, such as racial diversity, alcohol abuse, and student activism. This revised fourth edition contains 20 new cases reflecting current campus issues, including identity, study abroad, social media, bullying, housing and food insecurity, student activism, and other perennial campus issues. An excellent teaching tool, this book provides a comprehensive and realistic set of challenges to prepare aspiring student affairs professionals for the increasingly complex college environment.

Features include:

  • A structure that sets the stage for case study methods and links student affairs theory with practical applications.
  • Cases written by well-known and respected contributors set in a wide variety of institution types and locations.
  • Over 35 complex case studies reflecting the multifaceted issues student affairs professionals face in today's college environment.

Reviews

"This book provides a theoretical and practical resource for scholar-practitioners to learn and practice decision-making and critical thinking. This needed revision, with new cases involving social media, campus violence, and student activism, will invite thoughtful discussion about a challenging array of problems."
-Susan V. Iverson, Professor and Coordinator, Higher Education Leadership, Manhattanville College, USA.

"Stage and Hubbard continue to build a bridge between theory and practice in higher education and student affairs. This updated edition provides a first-rate framework for analyzing practical dilemmas and challenges decision makers to consider nuances of institutional history, political context, legal ramifications, and other critical factors. The variety, realism, and contemporary quality of the new cases also make it an ideal text for graduate courses and other forms of professional development."
-Tracy Davis, Professor and CSP Program Director, Western Illinois University, USA.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
