About the Author
Christopher Mason studied painting at the Chelsea Art School, and in 1951, won a GBP100 grant which took him to Paris. He survived there, as painter, book jacket designer and English teacher, for ten years, marrying Joanna Carrington in 1966. Returning to England he began a twelve-year career as a film maker - producing and directing films on architecture and painting for The Arts Council of Great Britain. He made films with Yehudi Menuhin, a comedy with Spike Milligan, a feature film shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1973 and a film portrait of the artist Duncan Grant. More recently, he has written a novel, an opera libretto and much poetry, including the words for two song cycles.
