While on official UNESCO business in The Vatican Museums, Dr Max Hunter finds himself pulled into a dark conspiracy of Biblical proportions.
Summoned to the inner sanctum of the Vatican in the middle of the night, Hunter discovers his friend and colleague, Professor Marco Vitali, has been brutally murdered, using his dying moments to draw a message on the floor in his own blood – a message that seems to implicate Hunter in his death.
Things rapidly get worse. Vatican officials inform Hunter that not only has the professor been murdered, but a high-ranking cardinal has also been kidnapped, and a ransom note left giving terms for his safe return. Hunter soon realises the highest echelons of the Vatican are holding information back from him, jeopardising his mission to bring the murderer to justice and secure the safe release of the cardinal.
With the HARPA team alerted and racing across the Atlantic to join the action, Hunter sets out with Inspector Martina Rinaldi, a courageous young Vatican Gendarmerie officer in pursuit of his friend’s killers but soon realises he is in a lethal race to stop an evil older than humanity resurfacing and threatening the entire world.
