About the Author
After holding posts at the universities of Cambridge, Reading, Oxford, and Durham, Edith Hall took up a Research Chair in Classics and Drama at Royal Holloway, University of London, in 2006, where she directs the Centre for the Reception of Greece & Rome. She is also Co-Founder and Co-Director, with Oliver Taplin, of the Archive of Performances of Greek & Roman Drama at the University of Oxford, and Chairs the Gilbert Murray Trust. Besides regularly acting as consultant on professional productions of ancient Greek drama, she has contributed to numerous radio and television programmes on ancient Greece and Rome and their legacies in the modern world.
