Description

Grad's Guide to Graduate Admissions Essays provides more than 50 successful admissions essays straight from the source-recent college graduates making the transition to earning advanced degrees at highly selective graduate programs. Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, and Northwestern are just a few of the universities to which these students were admitted. Each of the essays contains designated segments highlighting the particular characteristics that make them outstanding admissions essays. Additionally, the essays are interspersed with segments labeled "Writer's Words of Wisdom," which contain statements from the author of the particular essay with advice on the admissions process. By receiving guidance from successful graduate school applicants, readers can glean advice from a variety of perspectives, while still obtaining the critical information as it relates to well-written essays for programs within a variety of fields including law, business, medicine, education, and humanities.

About the Author
Colleen Reding grew up in Mt. Prospect, IL, and became a proud member of Georgetown University's Class of 2010. Colleen gained acceptance to her first-choice program for graduate study at Harvard University and credits her admission with the outstanding examples of admissions essays from her Georgetown classmates.

Reviews
While the undergraduate essay is the focus of many books, the graduate school essay is just as, if not more, important to your acceptance into graduate level programs. Colleen Reding has helped to fill that gap with her new book Grad's Guide to Graduate Admissions Essays, published by Prufrock Press. This collection of essays provides grad school applicants with models of successful medical school personal statements as well as successful essays from law school, business school and general graduate school students, all of whom attended Georgetown with Ms. Reding for their undergraduate degrees. These essays go beyond the standard "I have always wanted to be a lawyer" and "I really just want to help people," instead weaving personal experiences into the story of why they are the ideal candidate for admission. Readers will get a good sense of what competitive graduate programs are looking for in applicant essays, and models they can use when drafting their own. Equally helpful are writing tips provided throughout the explaining why the essay was particularly effective-writing style, choice of theme, integrating examples, etc. ,American MENSA, 4/24/15

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
