The nature of human security is changing globally: interstate conflict and even intrastate conflict may be diminishing worldwide, yet threats to individuals and communities persist. Myra Marx Ferree is the Alice H. Cook Professor of Sociology and Director of the European Union Center of Excellence at the University of Wisconsin. Christina Ewig is Associate Professor of Gender and Women's Studies and Political Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
