This thoroughly revised and updated edition places a greater emphasis on electronic principles, while balanced with electrical principles. It provides a fuller coverage of active electronics, with additional topics on rectifier circuits, JFETs and MOSFETs, and more on DC circuits. Throughout it prioritizes applications and examples and is richly illustrated with artwork and includes supplemental materials like biographies of scientists. A background in mathematics, specifically complex numbers, is necessary. This book fits alongside the 4th edition of Jo Verhaevert's Fundamental Electrical and Electronic Principles, and serves as an excellent foundational resource for further education students aspiring to become technicians, and as an introductory text for first-year undergraduate students in all engineering disciplines with an electrical engineering component.
