About the Author
Catherine Pickles is an author, journalist and blogger who lives in Suffolk with her husband, Mike. She has two grown up children who have nearly left home! As a child, Cath's home was filled with dogs, cats and every stray, broken or rescued animal in the village. She is an experienced foster-carer of Lurchers and other sighthounds. Initially a foster dog, from the second Worzel skidded through the door, Catherine knew that he would be her first `failed foster.' Worzel Wooface was adopted from Hounds First Sighthound Rescue. His mission in life is to eat every shoe his Dad owns. Tolerant of the five cats who live with him, his favourite is Gandhi, who he considers to be an honorary Lurcher. As well as writing books, Worzel blogs and writes a regular column for his local newspaper. He is a champion for rescue dogs, and considers himself a Rescue Ambassador, promoting the joys and challenges of second-hand dogs. He can usually be found upside down on any bed other than his own, often with one of his Dad's shoes that he's looking after. And licking. In 2016, Worzel won a Heroes of Dog Fest award, and in 2017 he became a World Record holder. Who knows what 2018 will bring ...?
Reviews
Well I am a huge fan of this series. A long awaited fourth instalment from Lurcher Worzel and a continuation of his life story. The books are written from Worzel's viewpoint and in his language and this as with all the others is hilarious, honest, and real. I particularly like the beautiful photo sections in the middle of this book of Worzel himself. It makes me feel like I really know him! This edition of Worzel's life follows the same format month by month and carries a variety of adventures. These include an exciting encounter with a fish pond, a black bird, which Worzel concludes has a death wish, plus a new arrival just when Worzel has hoping for a quiet life! The usual Mum and very long-suffering Dad, two offspring and five cats all feature and included are poems, letters and advice from Worzel in his own infallible way. Words of wisdom that only a Lurcher could write! Truly worth a read, along with the other three previous books in the series. - Dog Training Weekly. For the quite very actual amazing love of Worzel Wooface is a fabumazing addition to your library. - Geelong U3A Dog Handling Skills Class. The eagerly-awaited fourth instalment from Worzel, the literary Lurcher is funny, touching, honest and very real. Australian Dog LoverTo sum up this book - Hugh-Stan, we don't have a problem, not at actual all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book all about life, love and Lurchers Dogs Monthly
