Lavishly illustrated throughout, this must-have guide includes detailed species accounts describing key identification features, habitat, biology and status. It also features illustrated key guides that enable users to accurately identify species, comparison plates of similar species, dentition plates and illustrations of egg cases, where known. This an essential guide for fisheries management, trade regulation and shark conservation.

About the Author
David A. Ebert has devoted his life to studying the ocean's most elusive and fascinating predator-the shark. His adventurous global search for "lost sharks" has taken him to over 35 countries and has resulted in the discovery of more than 50 new shark species. He is the author of over 30 books, including the bestselling Sharks of the World (Princeton). A popular television guest, Ebert has appeared on the BBC, National Geographic and the Discovery Channel. He is director of the Pacific Shark Research Center, scientific advisor to the United Nations, a member of the Executive Committee of the IUCN Shark Specialist Group and honorary research associate at the California Academy of Sciences and the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity. He is also a former president of the American Elasmobranch Society. Marc Dando is a scientific illustrator with an honors degree in zoology. Combining his love for art and the natural world, especially sharks, Dando has emerged as one of the world's leading shark illustrators. His work has been used worldwide in aquaria, displays and many books, ranging from children's literature to field guides, including Marine World, Guide to the Manta and Devil Rays of the World (Princeton) and Sharks of the World (Princeton). Dando also teaches at scientific illustration workshops, where he loves to encourage people of all ages and abilities. When time allows, he works on more artistic pieces inspired by nature. This work has been exhibited at the Musee Oceanographique de Monaco, the Mall Galleries in London and the NSU Art Museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, among other venues. Dando is a patron of The Shark Trust.

Reviews
"If one were to conjure up two names most eminently associated with sharks, rays and chimaeras, David Ebert and Marc Dando might well be the two. They have created a magnificent field guide."---David Gascoigne, Travels with Birds
"This book is a useful text for undergraduate students who desire to familiarize themselves with common anatomical terminology and to advance their knowledge of the class Chondrichthyes, as well as seasoned experts who benefit from having an extensive encyclopedic resource at their fingertips in the midst of research."---Jake Wood, Integrative & Comparative Biology

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
