About the Author
Earle Birney (1904-1995) was known as one of Canada's finest poets; among medievalists he was known for his essays on Chaucer and Irony. Beryl Rowland, ed. was the President of the New Chaucer Society, the sole international organization of Chaucerians, and served on the boards of the Chaucer Review and Floriegium.
