Description

Developing learning materials has traditionally been a slow and costly process, with updates being a constant challenge. How can organizations counter this problem? Most companies adopt a learning strategy where content is created by a centralized learning and development (L&D) department, with no input from existing employees. This process is slow, expensive and makes it impossible to keep content updated. The solution is shifting content creation from a top-down approach to a bottom-up one, allowing employees to share their knowledge across the business. This approach is called Employee-generated Learning. Through it, L&D professionals have more time to focus on learning strategy and culture, analytics, ROI and addressing any knowledge gaps. This book is a practical guide that explains what Employee-generated Learning is, the benefits of this approach and how to implement it. It provides a framework for organizations of any size, enriched by detailed how-to's, industry insights and case studies from companies that have successfully implemented this bottom-up approach. Employee-Generated Learning covers the shift in learning trends from formal to informal learning and from theoretical learning to performance support. It outlines the performance, financial and productivity gains from kickstarting a knowledge-sharing culture. Most importantly, it is a practical manual on implementing Employee-generated Learning step by step. The book is ideal for all learning professionals looking to upskill their workforce at pace, capture the knowledge and experience of their staff and improve both individual and business performance.

Reviews
"Since implementing the Employee-generated Learning approach, we've gained almost 2000 content creators in our organization. While some are L&D people, the majority are regular employees - subject matter experts - who wouldn't have contributed without EGL." * Frederic Hebert, Head of Digital Learning, Danone *
"In an era where the pace of change is relentless, this book is a must-read for L&D leaders. It provides a holistic, future-focused blueprint for L&D strategy, paving the way for a dynamic, knowledge-rich organizational culture." * Louise Puddifoot, L&D Expert, Founder and Managing Director, Willow & Puddifoot *
"This book charts the twisting road from top-down formal learning to something more organic and emergent. It is an important journey that most learning organizations will have to travel. The book shows you why this is necessary and, more importantly, how to take the first steps and transform your whole L&D operation. It is not just about process; it is a whole new way of thinking and organizing. The ideas in this book are central to creating a more empowered and dynamic workforce, and more resilient organizations. Nothing is more important as far as I am concerned." * Dr. Nigel Paine, Co-Presenter of Learning Now TV *
"Learning is the fuel that powers successful organizations. Making it easy for subject matter experts across the organization to create and share knowledge is key in a world where change is happening faster than ever. Kasper and Videhi's book is a must-read for anyone looking to leverage the knowledge across their people to develop training that drives performance and delivers results." * Brendan Noud, Co-founder & CEO, LearnUpon *
"Employee-Generated Learning delivers valuable insights for L&D professionals to stay relevant in the ever-shifting world of work, including very practical ideas that we should all incorporate into our L&D strategies. Kasper and Videhi's compelling narrative outlines the evolution of corporate learning over the past decades, highlighting parallels with other industries and drawing lessons from them to replace the outdated pedagogy of our industry. I, for one, will revisit this read again as my new team and organization develop its approaches around community-based learning. I highly recommend this book to all fellow professionals in L&D and people development." * Malcolm Taylor, Head of Capability, UK Health Security Agency *
"A defining characteristic of a true learning culture is that leaders and experts are equipped and empowered to contribute to the learning of others in formal and informal ways - this is not solely the responsibility of L&D teams. In this book, Kasper and Videhi outline an approach and a process of how to effectively establish Employee-generated Learning as an impactful and practical way of scaling and speeding up the design the delivery of learning content. Overall, a powerful value proposition for EGL." * Thor Flosason, Ph.D., Head of Global Talent Management & Learning Operations, PepsiCo *
"This book reveals the importance of social learning in shaping an organization's culture. It deftly explores new ways of working with AI, advocating for innovation whilst maintaining a watchful eye. It is an insightful guide for organizations navigating the intersections of technology and collective learning." * Cecilie Tystad, Training Director Sales & Service for Europe, Electrolux *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
