Description

EMDR in Family Systems provides clinicians with a clear account of the EMDR process and a comprehensive, step-by-step approach to healing trauma through integrating EMDR with other therapeutic tools. The book provides a unique protocol utilizing numerous evidence-based diagnostic assessments; in-depth psychoeducation on attachment issues, Internal Family Systems therapy, and mindfulness; and Metaframeworks, a Family Systems modality, as a model to enhance EMDR. Filled with a wealth of information on the latest clinical studies on topics from the neurobiology of trauma to the effectiveness of mindfulness practices in EDMR, this book will open up a host of productive new avenues for EMDR therapists to pursue with their clients.

Reviews

"In her illuminating book EMDR in Family Systems: An Integrated Approach to Healing Trauma, Mille masterfully interweaves the experiencing of trauma, its manifold short and long term impact and consequences, and various treatment approaches she incorporates with EMDR, such as internal family systems and genogramming. She elaborates the latest well-researched findings from neuroscience about the traumatized brain and how the changes in the brain affect an individual's personality and functioning. Mille writes with great sensitivity and wisdom. Her depiction of her own devastating trauma(s) is described in a professional manner so that it contributes to the complex narrative of why she chose to pursue a career in the mental health field, specializing in assessing, treating, and teaching about the efficacy of practicing EMDR from a family systems perspective in dealing with traumatized patients/clients. Kudos to Mille."
Florence Kaslow, PhD, ABPP, co-editor with F. Shapiro and L. Maxfield, Handbook of EMDR and Family Therapy Processes

"With this timely book, Diana Mille establishes herself as a significant voice in the growing movement to provide better care through the integration of psychotherapies. She masterfully builds clinical tools and family systems theory around the core practice of EMDR to create an elegant approach to the treatment of trauma. Every clinician, whether a trauma expert or not should read this book."
Douglas C. Breunlin, clinical professor of psychology, The Family Institute at Northwestern University, co-author of Metaframeworks: Transcending the Models of Family Therapy

"This book is a major advance in the treatment of trauma. Thus, it is an indispensable tool for therapists treating clients with any trauma-related ailment. The book succeeds, brilliantly, in providing an innovative framework by which to inform the effective and efficient treatment of clients."
Anibal Torres Bernal, PhD, associate professor and associate dean, Division of Counseling and Family Therapy, Regis University

"Dr. Mille provides a comprehensive description of the importance of healing trauma and trauma-related symptoms through EMDR therapy. As part of her proposed integrated approach, Dr. Mille makes an excellent connection between EMDR and different modalities of therapeutic intervention such as mindfulness and Internal Family Systems. Her inclusion of the Metaframeworks approach to EMDR protocol will provide a useful tool to mental health practitioners who are interested in working with families and couples."
Tatiana Melendez-Rhodes, PhD, LMFT, assistant professor and clinical coordinator, MFT Program, Central Connecticut State University

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
