About the Author
James Russell studied History at Pembroke College, Cambridge. A passionate advocate of twentieth-century British painting and design, he writes and lectures widely. He is the author of The Lost Watercolours of Edward Bawden as well as titles devoted to Eric Ravilious (PWP), Edward Seago, Peggy Angus and Paul Nash. As curator, his previous exhibitions include Ravilious (Dulwich Picture Gallery, 2015); Peggy Angus: Designer, Teacher, Painter (Towner, Eastbourne, 2014) and Century, a wide-ranging survey of 20th century British art (The Jerwood Gallery, Hastings, 2016).
