This book takes a long, hard look at the two countries and uncovers what they can learn from each other in their approaches to tackling this problem. The material in the book is the result of extensive work with educators, researchers and scholars working in the area of education and disaffection in the US and the UK.
Richard Majors and his contributors are at the vanguard of research into this topic and this book is one of the most important titles published on the education of black children in recent times.
Gathering together the issues and looking at real-world approaches, this book does not simply advance the debate: it tables some serious solutions to serious problems.
This is a ground-breaking book based on cutting-edge research from writers and experts recognised the world over for their expertise. People will take note of what this book has to say.

Reviews

'In his latest book Majors, together with other authors in the field, dissects the experience of young black boys inside British schools. The book paints a bleak picture.' - The Guardian

'This book represents an excellent analysis of the negative results that colour-blind policies bring and it can be seen as an opportunity to learn from successful policies and practices ... The book is of paramount importance for all those interested in education in general and for those who seek to understand the genesis and consequences, the how and the why of the huge underachievement and the exclusion of ethnic minorities, mostly black males.' - Intercultural Education

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
