Description

This introduction to the interpretation of Genesis encourages in-depth study of the text, and genuine grappling with the theological and historical questions raised, by providing a critical assessment of key interpreters and interpretative debates. It draws on a range of methodological approaches (author-, text- and reader-centred), as complementary rather than mutually exclusive ways of understanding the text. It also reflects the growing scholarly attention to the reception history of biblical texts, increasingly viewed as a vital aspect of interpretation rather than an optional extra.

Comprehensive, up-to-date and student-friendly introduction to Genesis: its structure, content, theological concerns, key interpretative debates and historical reception.

Reviews
Genesis lays the foundation for our faith and new understandings, in which this book abounds are very welcome. Though scholarly, it is readable at all levels and enjoyable in stimulation of thought. It would be a useful book for study and discussion in a small group. It is highly recommended for novice students, and those like myself who have spent years on the New Testament but perhaps neglected the awakening of God's relationship with human kind. -- John Foxlee * The Reader, Autumn 2016 Vol. 116. A clear and well-informed discussion . . . [which] will repay careful reading and thoughtful engagement. * These Things Are Written *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
