Description
A brilliant player but with a stormy temper and a troubled relationship with gambling and drink, Scotland and Celtic captain Dan Doyle's life on and off the pitch makes for an incredible story. Until his retirement in 1899, Doyle was always a controversial figure. This book tells the story of Scotland's first bad-boy football superstar.
About the Author
Marie Rowan is a schoolteacher and a part-time tour guide at Celtic Park. She grew up a fourth generation Celtic supporter in Glasgow, her great-grandfather having been one of the first to cheer on the Bhoys at the original Celtic Park. First taken to Parkhead in the early 1950s by her Celtic-mad father, she was privileged to witness such greats as Charlie Tully and, her own favourite, the immensely skilful Willie Fernie playing for the Celts. Being a tour guide at Celtic Park has allowed her to indulge in her passion for researching the earliest days of the club. Marie is also the author of five novels.
