About the Author
Curious Jane was founded by Samantha Razook Murphy to give her daughters, and all young girls, a place to be creative and to tinker and experiment in a fun, high-energy environment. The classes revolve around science, design and engineering and empower girls through hands-on, open-ended, project-based work. In 2014, they won a prestigious Small Business Grant from Chase in support of their programmes for girls.
Reviews
"On eye-catching pages packed with doodles, vibrant colors, and detailed photos of each project in process, this collection of activities, compiled from Curious Jane magazine, has the look of an energetic Pinterest board. There's a nice spread of projects here, which encompass science (make your own cloud, extract strawberry DNA), engineering (make an intruder alarm, build a bridge, fashion a pair of light-up cat ears), fabric arts (create a screen print, weave a rug from t-shirts), and beauty routines (make face masks and soaps), among others, and while the title makes it sound like these are girl-centric projects, the majority will appeal to any crafty kid. . . . . these projects should easily appeal to kids (who will probably need adult help), and adults looking for makerspace or classroom programming will likely find some inspiration, too." -Booklist
