Description

This text is the first of its kind and provides counselor educators and supervisors, who teach university-level practicum and internship courses in counselor preparation programs, with a comprehensive exploration and in-depth understanding of all the facets that govern and influence university supervision courses.

Readers will learn how supervision theory infuses into group settings, along with a thorough understanding of how group dynamics impact the group supervision experience for fieldwork students. Topics covered include legal and ethical issues that university supervisors, site supervisors, and interns encounter and need to be competent in addressing. Culturally responsive supervision is covered to prepare the university supervisor to employ cultural capacity when working with students and supervisors. Procedures and practices for assessment and evaluation of students holistically, as well as suggested best practices for designing and coordinating fieldwork experiences for students in diverse counseling identity areas, are covered.

Counselor educators and supervisors will find this book helpful as it offers a comprehensive foundation for coordinating and teaching university supervision experiences and courses.

Reviews

"Dr. Helena Stevens' text on university supervision is an invaluable contribution, offering both clarity and depth to an often complex process. Her work provides practical guidance while advancing critical conversations about best practices."

John Harrichand, Associate Professor, Montclair State University

"The text addresses a critical gap in counselor education by providing a comprehensive, practice-informed examination of university supervision. Dr. Stevens thoughtfully engages the paradox of supervision training, offering theoretically grounded frameworks to guide faculty, coordinators, and supervisors in the design and delivery of practicum and internship courses. Both emerging and experienced counselor educators will find this text to be an indispensable resource for cultivating intentional, ethical, and effective fieldwork experiences that align with CACREP standards and advance the preparation of future counselors."

Tracie Rutherford-Self, Associate Professor, Minnesota State University, Mankato

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
