Description

Full-cast adaptations of James Hogg’s classic psychological thriller and one of his best-known stories of suspense, plus a docu-drama about his life.

Scottish author James Hogg was one of the most popular authors of his day, and has now undergone on a widespread critical revival. His Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner, published in 1824, takes us back to the world of 18th-century Scotland, into a mind haunted by religious obsession, and driven to commit murder. Robert Colwan believes that some people, including himself, are predestined to go to heaven regardless of their behaviour on earth. If you have no price to pay for the crimes you commit, how murderous can you become? And what, if anything, does that do to your psyche? In this new reimagining by Robert Forrest, James Hogg’s best-known tale is told retrospectively by Robert Colwan to two women, Bella and Arabella, who hold him captive near the end of his life.

Also included in this collection are full-cast adaptations of The Brownie of the Black Haggs, one of James Hogg’s best-remembered short stories, and James Hogg – Portrait of a Justified Sinner, a drama-documentary about the life of James Hogg, written and presented by Hugh Douglas.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
