Description

Following the seasonal migratory journey of rock climbers across the stunning and diverse landscapes of North America, this gorgeous photographic monograph will transport readers into a different world. The reader is invited to follow one cycle of climbing life, dictated by optimal climate conditions, beginning in the Spring and ending in the Winter. Climbing Rock celebrates 30 of North America s legendary rock climbing areas covering a full spectrum of climbing styles including: hard big wall free climbing in Yosemite Valley, desert trad climbing at Red Rocks, Nevada and Indian Creek, Utah; classic sport climbing in Rumney, NH and Red River Gorge, Kentucky; oceanside cragging in California, and even city park bouldering in New York City. Francois Lebeau s artful photographs uniquely capture the stark beauty of the walls, amazing moments of athletes on the stone, and the humanity of the adventurous people who journey upwards. Climbing Rock is the perfect book for anyone interested in climbing, from athletes of all abilities to readers who appreciate breathtaking photography of improbable physical feats across stunning North American landscapes.

About the Author
Jesse Lynch is a rock climbing pianist based in New York City. Over the past eleven years Lynch has climbed in most major areas in North America, with a particular love for bigwall and long trad climbing. Off the walls, Lynch is a full-time professional musician, composer and curator of a monthly jazz series at The Vortex, a loft performance space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Photographer Francois Lebeau has spent the past decade capturing rock climbers in action across the globe. He strives to capture candid and decisive moments of athletes on the stone with the most magical light available. His perseverance and dedication to his craft has earned him the reputation of one of the best climbing photographers in the world. Lebeau s images are frequently featured in publications such as: Rock and Ice, Sidetracked, Besides and Outside magazines and his advertising clients include Mountain Hardwear, The North Face, Black Diamond, Adidas and Red Bull. Peter Croft is a legendary Canadian rock climber and mountaineer. He has concentrated much of his rock climbing career on big routes in Yosemite National Park, Squamish, British Columbia as well as the High Sierra. He has authored three guide books on the Sierras region and received The American Alpine Club s Robert and Miriam Underhill Award in 1991.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
