More than 40,000 children die daily in the developing world from avoidable sickness and disease. Tens of millions of children labour in mines, mills and sweatshops, or scavenge for a living on city streets and dumps. Seabrook insists that the whole question of protecting children's rights must take into consideration the structural abuses of humanity that are inherent in globalisation.

About the Author
Jeremy Seabrook has been writing books for over half a century. His articles have been featured in the Guardian, The Times and the Independent. He has written plays for stage, TV and the theatre, some in collaboration with his close friend, Michael O'Neill. His many books include People Without History: India's Muslim Ghettos and Cut Out: Living Without Welfare.
