Description

Pascal's life is like any other boy's as he worries about his English classes and his football skills - until the day rebels come to his village and everything changes. On the run with friends, Pascal finds himself at the mercy of some tough events. But it is not until he ends up working in a cocoa plantation that he realises he must endeavour to find his family and to set himself free of his enslavement. Armed only with his determination, and supported by his friend, Kojo, Pascal has a difficult battle ahead of him.

Powerful, character focused and strongly plotted, this is a riveting new novel from Sally Grindley, winner of the Smarties Gold Medal for Spilled Water

About the Author
Sally Grindley lives in Cheltenham. She has been involved with children's books nearly all her working life, first as editor of the children's book club Books for Children, and for almost as long as a children's author. This is Sally's seventh novel for Bloomsbury. Spilled Water won a Smarties Gold Medal as well as other regional awards such as the Lincolnshire Young People's Award.

Reviews
'Grindley's story is suitable for children in upper Key Stage 2 and works well as a class reader, providing many opportunities for discussion about the plight of children in war-torn countries' NATE Classroom

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
