Description

Biophysics: Foundations, Problems, and Solutions is an essential text for undergraduate students seeking to understand biophysics concepts through the lens of practical problems and their solutions. It provides a comprehensive exploration of the field, combining theoretical summaries, formulae, and laws with detailed numerical analyses. Designed to support readers from disciplines such as biomedical sciences, engineering, and medical technology, this book bridges the gap between biology and physics to offer a cohesive learning experience. Whether you're a student or a seasoned expert, this text serves as a robust resource for mastering key biophysics principles. Beyond its core function as a textbook, the book covers a diverse array of topics, including fluid mechanics, capillary effects, acoustics, diffusion phenomena, radiology, and nuclear physics. With its extensive problem-solving approach, the book ensures readers gain both conceptual understanding and practical skills. It stands out as an indispensable guide for navigating the interdisciplinary challenges of biophysics-focused courses and research.

About the Author
Jaroslav Kuba received his MSc in physical electronics at the Czech Technical University in Prague, in the Department of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering. Thanks to a French government scholarship, he then completed his doctorate (Ph. D.) at the Universite de Paris XI, France. He specialized in physics of plasmas and lasers and submitted a thesis in the field of transient x-ray lasers generated in plasma. Following his Ph. D. graduation, Dr. Kuba worked at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, USA. In 2005, he accepted a Czech government scholarship dedicated to having Czech citizens at highly specialized prestigious scientific positions abroad return home and help strengthen Czech academia. In 2006, Dr. Kuba was appointed vice-president of the Czech Technical University in Prague, the largest technical university in the Czech Republic and the oldest one in Europe, and an associate professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Later on, he served as deputy-minister for Education in the Czech government, responsible for EU funds, where he signed, for example, the multibillion funding for the most powerful laser in the world (ELI facility near Prague). Dr. Kuba has taught biomedical students for more than ten years, as well as students from other departments, in a number of physics and biophysics courses.

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
