Chipasula, Judge William Holmes Cook Professor of Black American Studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, is the author, editor, or coeditor of seven books, including When My Brothers Come Home: Poems from Central and Southern Africa and The Heinemann Book of African Women's Poetry. His own poems have appeared in numerous journals and anthologies.
