Description

Andrea Corr's Barefoot Pilgrimage is a compelling and honest memoir.

In part, an exercise in coming to terms with and making sense of life and mortality following the loss of a beloved father; in part, a reflection on an unlikely journey with her siblings through the music industry; in part, a meditation on family, on music, and on creativity; and, in part, a shout-out for love and for hope.

Illustrated with personal photographs and with original poems interspersed throughout the text, this is a very personal - at times very funny, at times deeply moving - book from an iconic figure in popular music.

About the Author

Andrea Corr is from Dundalk on the east coast of Ireland. As the lead singer of The Corrs, she achieved global success with her three elder siblings. As an actor, she has played parts on the screen and the stage. She lives in Dublin with her husband and two children. Barefoot Pilgrimage is her first book.

Reviews

Winner of the Irish Book Awards' Popular Non-Fiction Book of the Year.

  • 'Andrea Corr's memoir is an oddly lyrical, sometimes stream-of-consciousness, work of brilliance. ... Sweet, sad, but ultimately inspiring...' - Hot Press
  • 'Very intimate, very touching, very emotionally engaging and very thoughtful.' - Ryan Tubridy, RTE Radio 1
  • 'To my eye, to my reading, it's a work of art. A very honest memoir. A beautiful book.' - Pat Kenny, Newstalk
  • One of Joseph O'Connor's books of the year: 'the work of a writer with a real feeling for language and the nuances of a story' - Sunday Independent
  • 'A singular voice that tells a tale both frighteningly honest and funny.' -Liam Collins, Sunday Independent
  • 'A book that I really, really enjoyed - and that I was surprised by. It's quite a literary memoir, ... an exercise in coming to terms with and making sense of life and mortality following the loss of her beloved father ... a reflection on a journey with her siblings that most of us can't even imagine through the music industry. It's also musings and meditations on family, creativity and music. There's a lot of love in it, and a lot of hope. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. ... [Corr has] a really unique voice.' - Roisin Ingle, Irish Times Women's Podcast
  • 'This is enthralling, different perhaps from anything I have read, imbued with a singular style, an honesty that captures the joy and sorrow of growing up in a family at once ordinary and unique. ... Corr has dug so deeply into her own life that what she has unearthed is frighteningly honest, funny and unique... what can only be described as an unconsciously literary work.' - Sunday Independent LIFE Magazine
  • 'The writing is frequently opaque, impressionistic, self-conscious, self-deprecating, wry, witty.' - Irish Times
  • 'Moving'- Woman's Way

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
