Description
Anna Reivila (b. 1988, Helsinki) is a land artist and photographer living and working in Porvoo, Finland. In her book Nomad she studies the relationship between humanity and nature by referring to the Japanese bondage tradition. She explores the symbolism of bondage, regarding connections among people and the divine. The Japanese word for bondage, kinbaku-bi, literally means the beauty of tight binding. It is a delicate balance between being held together and being on the verge of breaking. In Reivila's photographs the ropes outline the shapes of the objects while exploring the boundaries of humanity.
