Description

The world can seem a scary place to live. Forests are burning, plastic is filling the oceans and the air is polluted. But we can all help save the planet - including you!

Activists Assemble - Save Your Planet details the major current environmental issues, why they occur, and how they can be resolved. Written by the former Feature Editor of BBC Wildlife Magazine Ben Hoare and beautifully illustrated by Jade Orlando, discover how and why the world is getting hotter, the consequences of deforestation, and the impact of too many vehicles. Become a real-life super hero and help to protect the environment - from quick and easy fixes to changes that could have a long-term global effect. Meet the famous faces leading the way in the worldwide crusade to be more environmentally friendly and take the quiz to find out just how green you truly are. . . and could be. This is our planet - we can save it!

An activity section gives readers the opportunity to explore environmentalism further: they can test their eco-hero knowledge, start important conversations using the 'discussion time' questions, as well as space to write down their thoughts and observations.

The world can seem a scary place to live. Worries and fears about our planet and the impact of human behaviours are widely discussed. But you can help!

About the Author

Ben Hoare is an award-winning journalist who has written and edited many natural-history books and magazines for DK, the BBC, London's Natural History Museum and many others. Think of a well-known wildlife or nature writer who writes in English, and Ben has probably edited their words at some point. Since 2008 he has been Features Editor of BBC Wildlife Magazine. In 2015 Ben was awarded the Dilys Breese Medal for science communication by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) - he is one of only 16 people to hold the award. He is the author of Wild City and Activists Assemble - Save Your Planet

Jade Orlando has loved art for as long as she can remember. After an impassioned childhood spent drawing cats and mythical creatures, she studied Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Jade's work is colourful with a hint of weird, and has been featured in books, apparel, advertising and children's products. Clients include Scholastic, Carter's, Amazon, and Oopsy Daisy. Jade lives in Atlanta, Georgia with her bionic husband, greyhound, and four cats. When she's not illustrating, you can usually find her curled up with her pets and a really good book.

Reviews
Getting any reader to grasp the urgency of our planet's environmental threats, without reducing them to hopelessness and eco-anxiety is a mighty task. Hats off to the author - he strikes a fine balance. Morbid challenges like population growth, habitat loss and hunting are told in truth but are equally balanced with colourful, playful illustrations. * Discover Wildlife *
this book offers young readers a grounding in the problems facing the planet: pollution, endangered species, climate change, the peril of plastic and so on. It's colourful, approachable, informative and fun but has a serious point to make. Start young to save the planet! * Country and Town House magazine *

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
