Description

The Gothic began as a designation for barbarian tribes, was associated with the cathedrals of the High Middle Ages, was used to describe a marginalized literature in the late eighteenth century, and continues today in a variety of forms (literature, film, graphic novel, video games, and other narrative and artistic forms). Unlike other recent books in the field that focus on certain aspects of the Gothic, this work directs researchers to seminal and significant resources on all of its aspects. Annotations will help researchers determine what materials best suit their needs. A Research Guide to Gothic Literature in English covers Gothic cultural artifacts such as literature, film, graphic novels, and videogames. This authoritative guide equips researchers with valuable recent information about noteworthy resources that they can use to study the Gothic effectively and thoroughly.

About the Author
Sherri L. Brown is associate librarian for literatures and humanities at the University of Kansas. In her previous work as the subject librarian for the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology, she developed research materials for courses related to the Gothic. Carol Senf is professor in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at the Georgia Institute of Technology. After teaching classes in both literature and various kinds of writing, she is focusing primarily on the literature and culture of the nineteenth century. Ellen J. Stockstill is assistant professor of English at Penn State Harrisburg, where she teaches courses on British literature, critical theory, and composition. She specializes in Victorian literature and culture.

Reviews
Divided into fourteen chapters providing in-depth information and insights on the topic, along with an introduction and timeline of the genre from 1764 to the present, this is probably the most detailed and comprehensive volume on this topic. . . An excellent collection guide for public and academic librarians and libraries on this genre. * American Reference Books Annual *
Sherri L. Brown, Carol Senf, and Ellen J. Stockstill's A Research Guide to Gothic Literature in English: Print and Electronic Sources offers a comprehensive overview of scholarship on the Gothic and will not only be a necessary library purchase but an essential starting point for undergraduates, graduate students, and professional researchers traversing Gothic terrain. With lucid annotations and sections ranging from monographs, periodicals, and edited collections to literary societies and special collections, the volume is an invaluable resource that makes clear the rich tapestry of Gothic media and criticism available to intrepid researchers. It will be the privileged road map to the Gothic for years to come. -- Jeffrey Andrew Weinstock, professor of English, Central Michigan University

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
