Description

Supporting yoga therapists to create a programme of care for those living with chronic pain, this guide brings pain science, creativity and yoga together for the first time. It includes the emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual in its definition of pain and acknowledges there that is no simple physical 'fix'. The book offers advice on creating an environment that restores hope and meaning to clients, and on building a successful business by creating a community of support. Matt Taylor's blend of creativity and yoga came from his own chronic spine pain as a physical therapist and his discovery of yoga therapy which led to his yoga-based rehabilitation clinic.

A guide for yoga therapists which brings pain science, creativity and yoga together to support clients with chronic pain

Reviews
Yoga Therapy as a Creative Response to Pain, is a provocative, yet humorous book that will likely shake, stir and then ultimately expand your notion of Yoga therapy, in ways that will deeply reward you both professionally and personally. .... And maybe even move you a little further towards eudaimonia. -- From the foreword by John Kepner MA MBA C-IAYT, Executive Director, International Association of Yoga Therapists
In his new book Yoga Therapy as a Creative Response to Pain Doctor Mathew Taylor personifies the concept of Acharya. One who has mastered a concept and then leads by example. Highly recommended for integrative health practitioners, students and anyone in pain. -- Larry Payne Ph.D., C-IAYT Co-Author Yoga Therapy and Integrative Medicine, Founding President International Association of Yoga Therapists
In this important work, Matthew Taylor has masterfully woven together the science of pain, physiology and authentic, contemporary yoga therapy. Through the crucible of his personal experience with chronic pain and informed by his work as a physical therapist and yoga therapist, Matthew provides insight into the efficacy of a well-planned therapeutic yoga intervention, while asking readers to use discrimination in what they may have previously believed about pain, yoga and effective living. Matthew's writing style is delightfully entertaining, making its important content easy to assimilate. -- Leigh Blashki, C-IAYT, past-President Yoga Australia, IAYT Council of Advisors, Founder Aust. Inst. Yoga Therapy
Yoga Therapy as a Creative Response to Pain offers a unique blend of ancient wisdom, modern science and common sense together with an invitation to personal transformation and practical tools to make it happen. This is the essential guide to using Yoga as a support for pain management. -- Joseph Le Page, MA, Founder, Integrative Yoga Therapy
Integrating pain science, yoga and creativity, Taylor masterfully introduces a new paradigm for patient care. A must read for all health care professionals seeking a novel and effective approach for the treatment of chronic pain. -- Dr. Lori Rubenstein Fazzio, DPT, PT, MAppSc, C-IAYT, Loyola Marymount University Yoga Studies Faculty, Clinical Director Yoga Therapy Rx, CEO Mosaic Physical Therapy

The shipping was just superior

The shipping was just superior; not even one of the books was in contact with the shipping box -anywhere-, not even a corner or the bottom, so all the books arrived in perfect condition. The international shipping took around 2 weeks, so pretty great too.
